This Privacy Policy explains what information HARK ("we," "us," "our") collects from you when you use the HARK iOS application, the harktime.com website, and the related services (collectively, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version
HARK is a local-first application. Your sessions, journals, mindmaps, prayers, notes, and impressions live encrypted on your device and never leave it unless you explicitly choose to share. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
The only things that leave your device are:
- AI session content — only when you opt in to AI insights, and only for the session you submitted
- Community posts — only when you publish to Testimonies, Prayer Room, Wins, or Listened
- Circle shares — only when you explicitly share a session with your HARK Circle, and only the fields you check
- Crash reports — anonymous stack traces and device/OS info via Sentry, defaulted ON, can be turned off in Profile → Diagnostics
- Product analytics — anonymous behavior counters via PostHog, defaulted OFF, requires explicit opt-in
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information. When you sign up for an optional HARK account, we collect your email address and a password (or use Apple's "Sign in with Apple" relay). The display name and bio you set in Profile are also stored on our servers if you sign in.
- Session content (only when explicitly shared). If you opt in to AI insights, the session content you wrote (impressions, notes, scripture, intention, life context) is sent to our AI proxy. If you share to a Circle or Community, only the fields you select are uploaded.
- Community posts. Testimonies, prayer requests, wins, and Listened posts you publish to public surfaces.
- Communications. Emails you send to support@harktime.com, feedback@harktime.com, or any other HARK address.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device & OS information (when crash reporting is on): device model, iOS version, app version, language, timezone, and the stack trace of any crash. No PII.
- Anonymous usage events (only when analytics is on): event names like
session_started,session_completed,paywall_viewed. No session content. No journal text. No prayer text. - Server logs for the AI proxy: timestamps and response codes. The proxy never logs request bodies (it strips them at the edge).
1.3 Information we do not collect
- Your real name, address, or birthdate unless you provide them
- Location data of any kind
- Photos other than the optional profile photo you choose
- Microphone or camera access
- Contacts, calendar, or other personal data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA, etc.)
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: deliver session AI insights, sync your Circle membership across devices, post your Community submissions, validate subscriptions
- To improve the Service: aggregate, anonymous analytics on what features people use; crash reports to fix bugs
- To communicate with you: respond to support requests, notify you of major Service changes
- To enforce our Terms: investigate abuse, prevent harm, comply with legal process
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use your data to train any AI model
- Read your private session content for any purpose
3. AI insights — specifically
When you opt in to AI insights:
- Your session content is sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker proxy
- The proxy forwards the request to Anthropic Claude with our API key
- Anthropic processes the request per their data policy and returns the response
- The Worker does not log the request body
- We do not store the request or the response on our servers; both are immediately discarded after the response is returned to your device
You can turn off AI insights at any time in Profile → AI Insights.
4. HARK Circle & Community
Circle: a small private ring of trusted people you invite. You decide what to share per session and per field. Members can react and comment on what you've shared. Nothing is shared automatically.
Community (Testimonies, Prayer Room, Wins, Listened): opt-in, post-by-post. Most posts are anonymous by default. The Listened feed never attaches your name, even on opt-in.
You can delete any Community or Circle post you authored at any time. Once another user has viewed or screenshotted your content, we cannot recall it from their device.
5. Data retention
- Local data: stays on your device for as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app wipes all local data.
- Account data: stored on our servers (via Supabase) for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your auth record and any Community posts you authored are deleted within 7 days.
- Sentry crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
- PostHog analytics: retained for 12 months, then aggregated and anonymized.
To delete your account, sign out and write to support@harktime.com.
6. Children
HARK is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. International users
If you are accessing HARK from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using HARK, you consent to this transfer.
