01What the room is for
The Community has four surfaces: Testimonies, the Prayer Room, Wins, and Listened. Each one holds a small piece of someone's real listening: a thing they sensed, a prayer they are carrying, a small faithfulness, a verse that met them today. People read it one moment at a time, pray over it if they want to, and move on. When they have held everything, the feed says so and stops.
It is not a place to debate, to recruit, to sell, or to perform. There are no followers, no likes to chase, and no direct messages. The only other social structure in HARK is a private Circle of up to eight people you invite yourself.
02The anonymity rule
A public post carries your display name unless you turn on Post anonymously before you post. Listened posts are always anonymous. When a post is anonymous, our servers never return the author to anyone: the public feeds are served through views that do not expose who wrote it, so anonymity is built into the system rather than only hidden in the app.
The rule cuts both ways. Do not try to work out who wrote something, and do not post anything that identifies another person: names, workplaces, churches, addresses, or details that would let a reader identify them. If you choose to attach your display name to a post, that is your choice to make for yourself, not for anyone else.
Anonymity in the app is not a guarantee of anonymity from HARK itself, from our vendors, or from lawful requests. Our Privacy Policy explains this plainly.
03What gets removed
We remove posts, and may restrict or close accounts, for the following. The list is short on purpose.
- Harassment or hate. Attacking, shaming, threatening, or demeaning a person or a group, including on the basis of religion or any protected characteristic.
- Content that encourages harm. Encouraging self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, abuse, or violence. (If a post suggests the writer is in danger, we treat it as a crisis first and a moderation question second. See section 09.)
- Spam and promotion. Links, products, fundraising, ministries, or services offered for sale. Repeated identical posts.
- Sexual, graphic, or otherwise off-tone content. The room is a contemplative prayer space and readers should be able to trust that.
- Identifying other people. Anything that names or exposes someone who did not choose to be named (see section 02).
- Impersonation and deception. Posing as another person, a church, a ministry, or HARK.
- Sectarian attacks. Doctrinal disagreement is a normal part of Christian life. Using the room to attack another tradition, or to misquote Scripture in order to wound, is not.
- Anything unlawful, or anything that violates the acceptable-use section of our Terms.
We do not edit posts. A post is either left as it is or removed.
04How to report a post
Every public post has a menu. Open it and choose Report. You will be asked what is wrong and can pick one of four reasons: Crisis or self-harm, Harassment or hate, Spam or promotional, or Off-tone for HARK. You can add a short note. Reports are silent on the other side; the person you reported is not told who reported them or that a report was filed.
If you choose Crisis or self-harm, the app immediately shows crisis resources, including 988 in the United States, so that help is one tap away for you or for the person you are worried about.
05How to block someone
From the same menu, choose Block. That hides every existing and future post from that account in your feeds. Blocking is also silent; the other person is not notified.
06What happens after a report
The HARK team reviews every report. Reports reach the team the moment they are filed and are acted on as soon as they are seen, usually the same day. Anything that reads as an immediate safety concern is handled first. A post that breaks these guidelines is removed. Where a pattern of behaviour is involved, the account may lose access to the Community while keeping the private practice, or, for serious abuse, be closed.
We do not have a queue that holds posts before they appear. Posts are visible as soon as they are saved. Reporting, blocking, and the crisis check-in on the composer are the tools that keep the room safe, together with the fact that the room is small, anonymous, and has no way to follow or message anyone.
07How to appeal
If a post of yours was removed, or your access to the Community was restricted, and you believe that was a mistake, email support@harktime.com with the subject line "Community appeal" from the email address on your account. Tell us roughly when you posted and what the post said. A person reads every appeal and will reply. We aim to answer within two business days.
08Deleting your own posts
You can delete your own Community posts from the post's menu in the app. If your version of HARK does not yet show that option, email support@harktime.com and we will remove the post for you.
Deleting your account removes your profile, the Circles you own, your Circle memberships, your shared sessions, your comments, your profile photo, and your local data. When you delete your account you choose whether your Community posts go with you. The switch is on by default. If you leave it on, your testimonies, prayer requests, wins, and Listened lines are removed. If you turn it off, they stay in the room with your name removed, so nothing links them to you. You can also delete any single post from its menu at any time.
09If someone is in danger
HARK is not a crisis service, and the Community is not monitored in real time. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services. In the United States you can call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, at any hour. The app also has a Crisis Help screen (You tab, About, In crisis) with these resources one tap away.
If a post makes you worried about the person who wrote it, report it with the Crisis or self-harm reason. That reaches us fastest, and it shows you the same resources so you can pass them on.
